Please have the appropriate paperwork completed. For License and Non-Driver I.D. renewals, you will need Form MV-44 (Application for Permit, License, Non-Driver ID) or present your renewal card or invitation that you received from the State. For Registration renewals, you will need to have a completed MV-82 (Vehicle Registration/Title Application) or the renewal notice you may have received from the State.

The Orleans County Department of Motor Vehicle Office located at the Orleans County Office Building, 14016 Route 31, Albion, NY 14411, is now open to the public by appointment only.  We are practicing all social distancing requirements and masking.  Please use the online scheduler to make an appointment.

We ask to please use an email when you sign up for an appointment so you can manage your appointment.  Please cancel or reschedule your appointment through your email confirmation should you not be able to make your scheduled appointment.  You may also call 589-3214 to cancel your appointment.   We are averaging 25% of people not showing up for their scheduled appointments per day.

If you do not have the ability to use the on line link to schedule your appointment, you can call 589-3214 however we experience high call volumes so we ask for your patience. You will still be encouraged to conduct all transactions which do not require an in person visit either by mail or via our secure drop box located at the main entrance of the County Office Building.

As we maneuver through the “new normal” due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, please take note with understanding and patience that policy and procedure has been revised at the Orleans County DMV Office per the Governor’s Executive Order that mandates all transactions that require an in office visit must be by appointment only.

PLATE SURRENDERS(September 23, 2020)

For plate surrenders, please utilize the secure drop box located at the main entrance to the County Office Building at 14016 Route 31, Albion, New York.  Enclose your plates in an adequately sized envelope together with $1.00 and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Your surrender will be processed promptly and your confirmation stub will be mailed to you in the envelope provided.

TITLES(September 23, 2020)

A duplicate Title may be procured by submitting a completed DMV Form MV-902 (link to form) a copy of your valid NYS Driver’s License and a check or money order payable to the Orleans County Clerk-DMV in the amount of $20.00.

LICENSES(September 23, 2020)
You may need an in office appointment to renew your license.

To renew via mail or drop box, you will need a completed MV-44 form (link to form) copy of your driver’s license, documentation of eye test performed within one year and payment by providing credit card information – Number, Expiration Date and the three digit Security Code – or by blank check payable to the Orleans County Clerk – DMV.

If you desire to up grade to a Real ID or Enhanced License, you must make an appointment and provide the Examiner with all of the above together with the following – Birth Certificate or valid Passport, Social Security Card and two proofs of residency. (Form ID-44).

PLEASE NOTE that if your name is different than what appears on your birth certificate, then you will have to submit evidence of the change of name, for example, certified marriage certificate, certified Judgment of Divorce or Certified Court Order for Name Change.

An in office appointment is not necessary to process a vehicle registration transaction. You may mail in your transaction or utilize the secure drop box at the County Office Building.

To register a vehicle, you must complete and submit NYS form MV-82 (link to form), a copy of your proof of insurance and a copy of your NYS Driver’s License.

If this vehicle is new to you, you must submit all of the above together with a signed NYS Title and NYS form DTF-802 (link to form).

Payment may be made by providing credit card information – Number, Expiration Date and the three digit Security Code – or by blank check payable to the Orleans County Clerk – DMV.
